(* = NTDO endorsement, ª = NTDO-endorsed by acclamation)

US President: Barack Obama *

US Senator: Dick Durbin ª incumbent

US Representative, 9th Distr: Jan Schakowsky ª incumbent

Four-term progressive Congresswoman Schakowsky was unopposed in the last Democratic primary: voters know she's a strong advocate on consumers' and women's issues. Firmly anti-war, she voted against the resolution to invade Iraq. Always responsive to her constituents, Schakowsky is also active in Congressional Democratic leadership.

NOTE: The 9th Congressional District Schakowsky represents includes 19 of the 72 New Trier precincts; the 53 others are located in the 10th Congressional District. Review the Districting map.

US Representative, 10th Distr: Dan Seals *

A Chicago native, Seals has broad national and even international experience that informs his progressive positions. Seals supports responsible withdrawal from Iraq, stopping Bush Administration attacks on civil liberties, universal health care access, curbing dependence on foreign oil, and strengthening environmental laws—especially as such laws apply to Lake Michigan. He's also pro-choice.

Seals graduated from Boston University and then taught English in Japan for two years. He subsequently earned a Master's in Public Policy from the Johns Hopkins School of International Studies and an MBA from the University of Chicago. While at Johns Hopkins, Seals was awarded a Presidential Management Fellowship and worked first as an aide in the US Dept. of Commerce, then for Sen. Joseph Lieberman (D-CT).

In his first run for public office, challenging a conservative incumbent for this Congressional seat in 2006, Seals garnered over 44% of votes cast. Seals is currently a director at GE Commercial Finance; he and his family live in Wilmette.

State Senator, 9th distr: Jeffrey Schoenberg ª incumbent

Schoenberg is unopposed for re-election. He chairs the State Government Committee and also serves as Evanston Township Committeeman. Before election to the State Senate, he was a six-term State Rep.

State Senator, 29th Distr: Susan Garrett ª incumbent

State Representative, 17th distr: Daniel Biss ª

State Representative, 18th distr: Julie Hamos ª incumbent

First elected a State Rep in 1998 and now seeking her sixth term, Hamos chairs the Mass Transit Committee in the State House. Hamos introduced the Universal Access to Broadband Services Act. At her request, the Subcommittee on Broadband Infrastructure will study policy issues and the state's role in broadband access.

State Representative, 57th Distr: Elaine Nekritz ª incumbent

State Representative, 58th distr: Karen May ª incumbent

May is currently serving her fourth term as a State Rep. In 2006, the Nature Conservancy honored her with an Acorn Award for her environmental work, and she was the first chair of the IL House Environmental Health Committee. She has also pursued legal crack-downs on identity theft.

Clerk of the Circuit Court: Dorothy Brown ª incumbent

Cook Cty State's Attorney: Larry Suffredin *

Cook Cty Recorder of Deeds: no endorsement
(no candidate attained the required 60% vote)

Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Commissioners (3 seats open):
