Once upon a time, being a Democrat in New Trier felt lonely. But not any more! Today, Democrats consistently outpoll Republicans in most races here, including each of the last three presidential elections. We're proud that NTDO has contributed to this progressive shift. Who are we? The New Trier Democratic Organization is made up purely of grassroots volunteers. We live in Wilmette, Kenilworth, Winnetka, Glencoe, and in small sections of Northfield and Glenview, Illinois. We are women and men, teenagers and retirees, married and single, moms and dads. We are commuters and local business people, tradespeople and professionals, people of varied races and religions, from every socio-economic class. Our personal diversity makes NTDO truly democratic! But all NTDO members do have one very important thing in common, besides voting Democratic. We believe that participation in the political process is necessary to ensure good government: government that's fair, honest, responsive, effective, and compassionate. So we stay involved year-round to further these progressive ideals. If you're concerned about the far-rightward skew of our nation's leadership, we invite you to get involved, too. Since 1985, Bill Crowley has led the NTDO and served New Trier Township as Democratic Committeeman. A Steering Committee guides NTDO operations, and the NTDO recently attained federal PAC (political action committee) nonprofit status. Stop by our office at 800 Oak St, Winnetka, on weekday mornings during campaigns (summer hours may differ), and let's get acquainted! |
in your neighborhood precinct. You can help Dem candidates win! NTDO can help you start now. The New Trier Democratic Organization was established in the 1960's under the guidance of a remarkable leader, Lynn Williams. In those days, patronage politics seemed to be the accepted system for both political parties. But Lynn Williams believed that an effective local political organization could be created simply by offering interested citizens the opportunity to participate in the political process. Williams' faith in the power of grassroots volunteerism is the foundation of the NTDO today. Twp.
